Do you know when your windshield wiper blades need to be replaced?
Having a clean and unobstructed windshield is important. If your windshield wiper blades haven’t been keeping up, they might have to be replaced!
On average, windshield wiper blades last for around six to twelve months. Their lifespan depends on several factors like the weather conditions, and the materials that the blades are made from.
How do I know if my windshield wiper blades need to be replaced?
If your windshield wipers are leaving streaks, making squeaking noises, or missing sections of your windshield, they should be replaced.
But do my windshield wipers really need to be replaced?
Yes, it is important to replace your windshield wiper blades when you start to notice the signs. Damaged blades not only effect your visibility, but they can also damage your windshield! If the rubber on the blades becomes too damaged, it can tear or break off. This leaves the plastic or metal of the wiper’s arm exposed to the glass of your windshield. As the exposed wiper goes across your windshield, this can scratch and damage the glass.
Spring Wiper Tip: In the spring, if your windshield wipers are leaving streaks, but aren’t damaged, there could be some leftover salt on them! Try wiping the blade with a damp cloth to remove the salt. Your windshield should be streak-free!
