
2017 Civic Type R Masterpost
It has been a while since we discussed the Civic Type R! However, the wait has been worth it! For the first time, the Type R will be available in Canada! In anticipation of its North American debut next month, there has been a recent swirling of rumours and truths about the legendary Civic.
The latest prototype of the 2017 Civic Type R was unveiled at the 2016 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris. The prototype confirmed that the Type R will be based on the 2017 Civic Hatchback, but with a more sporty aesthetic design. The Type R prototype’s exterior features a unique, trapezoidal airscoop, and a brushed aluminum wrap. Its has smoked LED lights and 20 inch black alloy wheels.
The Type R has a more sculpted exterior than the Hatchback. The Type R’s exterior design focuses on aerodynamics and style. It comes with a carbon fibre diffuser and sideskirts. In the back it has three fully-functional tailpipes, the center of which is smaller and highlighted in red.
So far, Honda has not revealed any tech details about the 2017 Civic Type R. However, it is expected to have at least a 300 horsepower engine with a 6 speed manual transmission. More specifically, it is rumoured to have a 2.0L turbocharged engine. Although no firm details about the Type R’s engine have been released, the press has been able to spot the Type R in action.
